In April, we reached out for your feedback through a survey, aiming to understand how we can improve the Ramsbury Scouting experience. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts with us! Overall, we're thrilled to hear that both parents and Scouts are happy with our activities and program. However, there were some important points raised, and we’re excited to share our plans to address them as we head into the next term.
Getting Back to Basics
Some parents felt we had lost sight of teaching what it truly means to be part of the Scouting community. Starting in September, all our packs will be going “back to basics.” Every Beaver, Cub, and Scout will participate in sessions focused on Scouting values, exploring what it really means to be a member of our group. Our programs will also highlight traditional Scouting skills, giving young Scouts a stronger foundation in core Scouting principles.
Badges: A New Focus
Badges are a central part of the Scouting journey, representing growth, skills, and dedication. Beginning in September, each section—Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts—will have a dedicated leader focused on guiding them through badge achievements, including working toward the prestigious Chief Scout Badges. This new approach will help ensure that every young Scout has the support they need to work toward their goals.
Community Spirit in Action
Scouting is all about giving back, and we want our young members to have hands-on experience with community service. From September, each Beaver, Cub, and Scout will have the chance to raise a small amount of money through community projects. The funds they raise will support an event, evening out, or activity of their choice, giving them ownership and a sense of pride in contributing to their local community.
Campouts: Progress and Updates
We understand that many Cubs have been eager to experience campouts, and we are actively working to make this happen. To lead overnight camps, our leaders need an overnight camp certificate, a process that involves assessments from District-level evaluators. This certification process is complex, but we are doing everything possible to secure the necessary qualifications. We will keep you informed on our progress and are hopeful for new camp opportunities soon.
Thank you once again for your feedback and support. With these upcoming changes, we aim to enhance the Scouting experience for all of our young members. Here’s to an exciting new term filled with learning, community service, and fun
