On a damp autumn evening this week, the Cub and Beaver sections of Ramsbury Scouts gathered at Pete Wilson’s farm to celebrate a beloved British tradition—Guy Fawkes Night.
With warm layers and head torches at the ready, the group arrived eager to embrace the night's excitement. The evening kicked off with a classic scout adventure. The kids were divided into four groups, each tasked with lighting a Swedish log, building team spirit as they worked together to bring their logs to life. Soon, the anticipation grew as Pete ignited a giant bonfire. Beavers, Cubs and Parents looked on in awe as the “guys” they had crafted ignited, watching the symbolic tradition unfold.

As the bonfire roared, the real spectacle began: Pete treated everyone to an incredible fireworks display that lit up the Ramsbury skies. Colours and sparks danced overhead, and the children’s faces glowed with delight.

The excitement didn’t stop there. Once the Swedish logs had burned down just right, it was time for marshmallow toasting. The Scouts gathered around to roast marshmallows, crafting gooey, delicious s’mores—a perfect ending to a magical night.
A huge thank you goes out to the Wilson family for hosting us on their farm and especially to Pete for his hard work and generosity. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the leaders who planned and guided the night, ensuring a safe and memorable experience for everyone.
It was truly an evening filled with laughter, learning, and lasting memories. We’re already looking forward to next year!
